Join H.Y.P. Veteran Yoga Instructors Jordan Lashley and Laura Villalobos, for this powerful and transformational 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor Immersion.

Whether you're seeking to take your teacher's seat, or looking to dive deeper into the practice that passionately informs your life, you will learn how to teach yoga that is authentic to who you are, and how to share your love of this beautiful practice with others. This program will focus on modern yoga as an evolving art based on the classical teachings of India. You will focus heavily on practice teaching with real-time feedback as well as learning how to integrate and communicate the wealth of knowledge you will receive about philosophy, anatomy, and mindfulness.

CURRICULUM TO INCLUDE:
  • The Art of Teaching.
  • Being yourself and trusting that’s enough.
  • Connecting with a room with words, body language, and voice.
  • Holding space in your body, emotions, and mind.
  • Effective cuing and communication.
  • How to see your students and teach to what you see.
  • Pacing, timing, and how to marry intuition with technique.
  • The Miraculous Body.
  • Learn to teach a balanced, accessible, and carefully constructed sequence of yoga poses for all levels of practice.
  • Modifications and contraindications for injury and medical conditions.
  • Precise, safe, and easy to understand alignment
  • How to teach mindfulness in asana to promote brain and nervous system health.
  • How to speak to the body of the individual.
  • Basics of manually assisting yoga poses.
  • Foundational Pranayama.
  • Philosophy and teachings of Classical Yoga.
  • The history of yoga.
  • Safe, effective hands-on assisting.
  • The classical teachings of India including The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Upanishads, and The Bhagavad Gita and how those teaching apply to modern life and the modern practice of yoga.
  • Mindfulness and meditation practices.
Learning to teach yoga effectively is a serious commitment. This program will have outside reading and assignments and you will be tested on the information from each module prior to certification. You will leave the immersion confident that you have the skills and knowledge to go to the next level of your teaching path.

The Immersion will meet for a total of 8 weekends starting January through June 2018. For each weekend, the schedule of classes will be:
  • Friday 6:00-9:30p.m.
  • Saturday 10:30a.m.-8:15p.m.
  • Sunday 10:30-5:15p.m.
All sessions will be held at H.Y.P. Wellesley, 50 Central Street, Wellesley, MA (subject to change throughout the training). Weekend dates for the Instructor Immersion are as follows: 
  • January 19th, 20th & 21st  
  • February 2nd, 3rd & 4th
  • March 2nd, 3rd & 4th
  • March 16th, 17th & 18th
  • April 6th, 7th & 8th  
  • April 27th, 28th & 29th
  • May 18th, 19th & 20th
  • June 15th, 16th & 17th (graduation weekend)

THE INVESTMENT FOR THIS PROGRAM IS AS FOLLOWS:

  • EARLY BIRD TUITION: $ 2,500.00 (One payment, no deposit required) due 9/30/17.
  • REGULAR TUITION: $ 2,800.00 (A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due upon enrollment, with the remainder due no later than by 1/1/18, or full amount of $2,800.00 due by 12/31/17).
  • INSTALLMENT PLAN TUITION: $ 3,100.00 (A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due upon enrollment, with 4 additional payments of $520.00 due January 1st, February 1st, March 1st, April 1st and May 1st, 2018). We will store a credit card on account, and automatically run payments on the dates indicated.

We adhere to a strict no refund or transfer policy once the program commences, but will apply payments or credit remaining balances to a future Instructor Immersion program only. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions pertaining to the Immersion. All graduates of this program will be eligible to teach at future Community Karma classes at all H.Y.P. Studio locations, and will have priority for future H.Y.P. sub and permanent class opportunities upon further mentoring with our Immersion teachers. Make-up work for any missed sessions is the responsibility of the student, and is not included in the fee for the Immersion. Our Immersion staff will gladly work individually with each student to ensure that all graduation requirements have been met.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Please have a committed practice in place, and familiarity with foundational vinyasa yoga poses and sequencing. A 200 Hour Instructor Immersion is not an advisable environment in which to acquire a brand new practice.
  • A basic understanding of anatomy is essential for anyone seeking to teach a physical modality. If you do not have prior experience with anatomy, completion of September's Anatomy and Physiology Primer will be required prior to the commencement of the Instructor Immersion program. The Anatomy and Physiology Primer is available to all Immersion participants for a 25% discount off of the regular Primer fee.

  • Any injuries, limitations or medical history that we should know in order to ensure that the Immersion process is a place of safety for you.
  • An idea of who you are outside of the Studio. Your life circumstances, passions, interests and anything else, of a more personal nature, which you wish to share to help us better understand the person you are as you embark upon your teaching path.
