Masaaki Okamura

Born in Japan, Masaaki spent most of his childhood in Tokyo and Hong Kong. He challenged himself mentally as well as physically by practicing martial arts. Which lead him to train with the Hong Kong Royal Police and Hong Kong Asian Olympic Judo team. Masaaki studied martial arts for many years working with professional fighters and masters.

In 1993, he moved to Boston, where he attended Boston University and graduated with a degree in Psychology. Masaaki took his first yoga class in 2002. This experience had a profound influence and he became committed to regular practice after his first time on the mat.

Masaaki has received in-house assistant training and a specialized teacher training at the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute. He honors Coeli Marsh and Tom Alden for their guidance and continuous support, and also recognizes Yamada sensai for wisdom shared from a warriors heart.

Through his teaching Masaaki remains committed to bringing love, courage, peace, and kindness to others.
